Terms and conditions

1. Scope

These terms govern the use of the kaiport software in all its versions between Mario Kernich ("we") and you as its user ("you"), whether you are a consumer or a business. For versions from the App Store and the Mac App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the license; where it conflicts with these terms, it takes precedence.

2. Services

kaiport is an application for iPhone, iPad and Mac and for Windows and Linux for SSH, SFTP, FTP/FTPS, S3, WebDAV and Azure Blob connections with a built-in AI assistant ("AI Pilot"). kaiport runs locally on your device; there is no customer account and no online service of ours that your data passes through.

kaiport can be used free of charge with up to three saved connections. The kaiport Pro subscription unlocks further features: currently AI Pilot, jump hosts and unlimited connections on iPhone and iPad, and on the Mac also the MCP server, AI Pilot's server views and port forwarding. The product pages and the documentation describe which features a version includes at any given time. The direct downloads for macOS, Windows and Linux are currently the free version.

AI models are not included. AI Pilot uses access to an AI provider that you configure yourself ("bring your own key"); that provider's terms and prices apply to this use. The output of an AI model can be wrong. AI Pilot only runs commands after you approve them unless you switch on autopilot; you are responsible for the commands that run.

3. kaiport Pro

kaiport Pro is a subscription that renews automatically every year and is only offered in the App Store. You buy it in the App Store from Apple; price, payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds follow Apple's terms and the details shown in the App Store. New subscribers can try kaiport Pro for 14 days free of charge on the terms shown there. One subscription covers kaiport on iPhone, iPad and Mac with the same Apple ID.

You cancel the subscription in your Apple ID's subscription settings; it then ends with the current period. When the subscription ends, kaiport stays usable as the free version. Your connections are kept; the kaiport Pro features and adding connections beyond the free limit are then locked.

4. Free versions

We provide the free version and the direct downloads free of charge. There is no claim to their being available in a particular scope or permanently.

5. Rights of use

You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use kaiport on devices you use yourself. Reverse engineering, decompiling and circumventing the kaiport Pro check are not permitted unless the law (in particular § 69e UrhG) allows it.

6. Your obligations

Use kaiport only for lawful purposes and only on systems you are allowed to access. You are responsible for securing your credentials and the data on your devices; we have no access to them and cannot restore them.

7. Warranty and liability

Statutory warranty rights apply. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act. For slightly negligent breaches of an essential contractual obligation, liability is limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise liability for slight negligence is excluded. For the free versions we are only liable for intent and gross negligence, unless the law mandatorily provides otherwise.

8. Changes

We may adapt these terms for future versions of kaiport, for example when features or the law change. The version published on this page applies; we announce changes that affect a running subscription in good time beforehand.

9. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory provisions of their country of habitual residence. If the customer is a merchant, the place of jurisdiction is our registered office.
