Getting started on mobilePreview

First steps in kaiport for iPhone and iPad – install the app, bring your connections over by import or create them on the device, and get kaiport Pro.

The screenshots of the mobile app on these pages are placeholders and will be replaced with screens of the released app.

kaiport for iPhone and iPad needs no account. Install it, then create your connections on the device or import them from your computer or another client.

Before you start

  • An iPhone or iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
  • For key authentication: your private key as a file, or a key generated in the app whose public key you add to the server. See Keys.
  • For AI Pilot: kaiport Pro and an API key from an AI provider. See AI Pilot on mobile.

Install the app

Search for kaiport in the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and install it. The app is free to download. The same app runs on iPhone and iPad.

Bring your connections

Your connections don't move between devices by themselves. To use the ones from your computer, export them in the desktop app (the … menu next to New connection → Export, see Export connections) and open the file in the app on the phone, through the Files app or the clipboard. The app also reads ~/.ssh/config (with ProxyJump), the FileZilla Site Manager (sitemanager.xml, passwords included), WinSCP (WinSCP.ini), PuTTY (.reg exports and session files) and Cyberduck bookmarks.

  • Connections you already have are recognized and skipped.
  • The export of the desktop app contains no passwords or keys. Enter them again in the app, or import the key file.
  • Without kaiport Pro, the import adds connections up to the limit of three saved connections and tells you how many were left out.

The app can export its connections in the same format, also without secrets.

Create connections on the device

You can also create connections directly in the app: SSH, FTP/FTPS, S3, WebDAV or Azure Blob. The app uses the same defaults as the desktop app, for example user@host as the name of an SSH connection you don't name yourself. Quick connect with user@host:port connects without saving. See Connections and terminal and Files.

The free version keeps up to three saved connections. kaiport Pro has no limit; connections saved while Pro was active stay usable when it ends.

Get kaiport Pro

kaiport Pro adds AI Pilot, jump hosts and unlimited connections. Tap the AI Pilot button (marked PRO) or open Settings › kaiport Pro, then start the free trial or subscribe; Apple handles the payment. New subscribers get 14 days free. A subscription you already have from the Mac App Store works here as well with the same Apple ID; if the app doesn't find it by itself, choose Restore purchases. See Free and kaiport Pro.
