kaiport for iPhone and iPadPreview
kaiport for iPhone and iPad – what the app does, what is free and what kaiport Pro adds, and how it differs from the desktop app.
The screenshots of the mobile app on these pages are placeholders and will be replaced with screens of the released app.
kaiport for iPhone and iPad brings your servers and storage to your phone and tablet: SSH terminals, SFTP, FTP/FTPS, S3, WebDAV and Azure Blob, with AI Pilot as on the desktop. It is a standalone app: free to download from the App Store, without an account, and everything you set up stays on the device. The screenshots in this section are placeholders.
Requirements
- An iPhone or iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.
- For AI Pilot: kaiport Pro and an API key from an AI provider, or a model server in your network.
What the app is for
Check a service over SSH, read a log file, fetch a file from a bucket or ask AI Pilot for help while you are away from your computer. On the iPad, with a hardware keyboard and several windows, kaiport also works as your main terminal.
What it can do
- SSH terminal: sign-in with a password, a key (OpenSSH, PEM or PuTTY, also with a passphrase) or keyboard-interactive prompts, a host key check on first use, and jump hosts with kaiport Pro. Keys can be imported from Files, pasted or generated on the device. See Connections and terminal.
- Files and storage: SFTP on SSH connections, and storage connections over FTP/FTPS, S3, WebDAV and Azure Blob, with uploads from Files and Photos, Quick Look and a text editor. See Files.
- AI Pilot (kaiport Pro): the same providers as on the desktop with your own API key, in terminal and storage sessions, with approvals and Autopilot as on the desktop. See AI Pilot.
- Import and export: the desktop's export file,
~/.ssh/config, FileZilla, WinSCP, PuTTY and Cyberduck, from Files or the clipboard. See Getting started. - App lock: with Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. See Settings and security.
Free and kaiport Pro
The app is free with the terminal, SFTP, FTP/FTPS, S3, WebDAV and Azure, SSH keys, the app lock, themes, snippets, import and export, and up to three saved connections. kaiport Pro adds AI Pilot, jump hosts and unlimited connections. It is a yearly App Store subscription with 14 days free for new subscribers, and the same subscription unlocks kaiport Pro in the Mac App Store version. See Free and kaiport Pro.
Differences from the desktop app
The app connects to remote servers and storage only. Some features stay on the desktop:
| Topic | On iPhone and iPad |
|---|---|
| SSH agent | There is no SSH agent. Use a key stored in the app, a password or keyboard-interactive sign-in. Forward SSH agent only works on the desktop. |
| Port forwarding | Not available. Tunnel rules in an imported connection are kept but not opened. |
| MCP server, server views | Desktop only (kaiport Pro on the Mac). |
| Color schemes | The eight built-in schemes of the desktop app. Schemes you imported on the desktop stay there. |
| Connections, settings, API key | Stay on the device. To bring connections from your computer, export them there and import the file; passwords and keys are not part of the export. |
| Known hosts | Each device keeps its own. The app asks you to confirm a server's host key on the first connection, even if your computer already trusts it. |
